NEW DELHI: Practical examinations for honours courses at DU will be held in the last week of March instead of May as proposed earlier.
Authorities took the decision after some teachers raised objections to this year''s schedule. According to the earlier schedule, the practicals were to be held in May.
March 24, 25, and 26 are the new examination dates.
"March 23 is the last day of teaching. The new dates were fixed keeping the interests of the students and teachers in mind," said DU controller of examinations B S Garg.
Practical exams will be followed by theory papers, with exams for subsidiary subjects beginning from March 31.
"We will wind up with practicals by March 26, which will give a week to students to gear up for theory papers," said an official.
DU''s decision to hold the practicals in May had drawn flak from teacher groups, especially the Botany department, which said the required plants and flowers will not be available in that month due to heat.
